To mark its 40th anniversary year, Alzheimer’s Society is calling on everyone to unite against dementia and support Memory Walk to raise vital funds to power dementia research to defeat the condition.
Dementia is the UK’s biggest killer and, until the day we beat it, our researchers are working tirelessly to find ways to make life better for people living with dementia in the UK and their carers too.
This year, tens of thousands of walkers will come together to raise vital funds to help find a cure, improve care and support anyone affected by dementia.
More than 30 walks will take place in September and October across the UK, including the brand new marathon and half-marathon length walks taking place in London. You can even organise your own walk – “Your Walk, Your Way” – with a group.
Celebrities joining the cause include Line of Duty star and Our Dementia Choir presenter, Vicky McClure, who will be walking for the ninth consecutive year in her hometown of Nottingham, and EastEnders star and Dementia Revolution runner Emma Barton, who will be pounding the pavement in Portsmouth. Also taking part in Memory Walk are Ruth Langsford, Anne Nolan, Roy Stride and Dr Dawn Harper.
In the hour-and-a-half it takes to complete your average Memory Walk, 30 people will develop dementia in the UK – sign up to Memory Walk now to unite against dementia at memorywalk.org.uk.
