Dafna Bonas, founder of challenger snack brand Indie Bay, is on her 7th of 9 lives. Having started her career in FMCG at Proctor & Gamble, Dafna moved into tech as Head of Europe for Excite, before co-founding eos Ventures and serving as COO of Eden McCallum. As one of the leading pioneers of the UK web scene – the days of the Wild West – Dafna appeared in Time Magazine’s 30 under 30, and the World Economic Forum’s Global Leaders of Tomorrow.
Throughout her career, Dafna has remained passionate about using business to drive positive change. Alongside Martha Lane Fox, she co-founded Founders For Good (now Founder’s Pledge), a global initiative that harnesses the collective brainpower of the tech community to tackle inequalities in education, health, and employment, which is about to hit $1 billion in pledges for charities. She remains a Board Trustee at Founder’s Pledge, a Board Advisor of Intelligence Squared, which supports and mentors social impact leaders, and was a Trustee of The Jamie Oliver Food Foundation.
In her latest venture as founder of Indie Bay – a brand on a mission to reinvent classic snacks – she remains determined to drive positive change, this time turning her attention to the UK’s obesity crisis, starting with the nation’s snacking habits, reinventing the classics one snack at a time.
The brand, which has already been snapped up by the likes of Sainsbury’s and Ocado, is committed to healthy lifestyles, healthy choices, and healthy families. The range of tasty wholesome snacks make it easy to make smarter, satisfying choices ‘without the added guilt.’ Donations from every bag sold are made directly to schools to help teach children about healthy eating.
Dafna is also mother to three teens, wife, sister, daughter, friend, advisor, trustee, cook and podcast obsessed runner. She’s always keen to hear of great programs for her runs, so please send recommendations her way.
Dafna will be writing a regular column for The UK Newspaper starting from next week.
