From a very young age every bride envisions herself to be absolutely stunning on one of the most important days of her life. After all, on this day she will be the centre of attention for all her guests as well as her new husband.
Looking perfect is an absolute must on this day – so here are some Wedding Know-How secrets that I’ve put together to ensure makeup perfection.
First and most importantly is the fact that you must have hydrated skin in order for your application to be smooth. If you have dry skin, the last thing you want on your big day is flakiness on your face. Make sure you are drinking plenty of water every day and moisturizing both day and night with a good face and eye cream.
During the day your moisturizer can be lighter but make sure it contains SPF in it. At night, you can opt for a heavier more intense cream that can really give moisture and make the skin feel hydrated.
Exfoliating two times a week will help take off the dead skin cells that are appearing as flakes on the face. If you have oily skin you too should be moisturizing. Make sure to use a lotion that is oil-free. When oily skin is not moisturized, it produces more oil which you want to avoid.
Exfoliate your skin as well about three times per week. Facials are great but make sure your last facial is at least one week before the wedding because facials clean out the pores which can sometimes cause skin to breakout.
Wedding day time plays an important part when trying to figure out how you should wear your makeup that day. For example, if you are having a morning wedding, you’re makeup shouldn’t be overpowering. You would want to have a dewy fresh glow. If your wedding is in the afternoon you can get away with more makeup and if you are having an evening reception then you can really get glammed up if you choose.
Eye primers and face primers are important to make your makeup last throughout all the hours of your wedding/reception. The point of a face primer is to create a smooth canvas and act as a barrier between your skin and the foundation. This barrier is what will give longevity to how your face and eye makeup will wear. Primers are also especially great for oily skin because it tends to ‘mattify’ the skin so that shine doesn’t creep through.
Nowadays everything is in high definition so therefore why shouldn’t your foundation be too?. High definition foundations are great the day of the wedding because they look amazing on camera. Having a foundation with a high SPF can cause your face to look very light on camera which you want to stay away from. Instead, opt for one that is in high definition that contains either no SPF or one that has at most SPF 15.
