Maybe now Boris Johnson will have to scrap whatever plans he might be working on to try and scrap the “FREE NHS” now that her Majesty the Queen has awarded the George Medal to those many dedicated persons who have saved so many lives working on the front line during the pandemic. Some unfortunately have lost their lives during that period. Having nursed the Prime Minister back from certain death he rewards those Doctors and Nurses with a 1% Pay rise – how magnanimous (true meaning Generous and Noble) of him, whilst finding enough money to give himself and the people in his government a hefty rise. Then we had one of his team, a lady MP who made a statement on television “That they should be grateful they have a job!” What a callous thing to say.
What with the rising number of new cases of the Delta Variant, Boris is giving the United Kingdom a suicide pact by lifting sanctions and hoping that the populace will be sensible enough not to be silly when he broadcasts on the 12th July. I can see there is no hope for us senior citizens who have many medical problems because we are the ones likely to end up in hospital with this virus.
Having visited the Internet and collated the latest figures regarding Covid-19 and Delta Variant, this doesn’t give me confidence regarding the government’s policies. There is an estimated 67 Million population in the UK, including Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. Over the last seven days there have been 192,902 new cases and 161 deaths with 2,460 persons admitted in hospital. The virus testing programme in the last seven days amounts to 7,315,277, but it doesn’t reflect the numbers that have proven positive. Admittedly the numbers are down, but fatalities are still happening.
Many Professors, Doctors and Labour M.P.’s have stated that the government should take notice of what the scientists have stated, “Why in heaven’s name are the government lifting all these restrictions?” People might be itching to go on holiday which seems to be on everybody’s mind. Everyone knows there are some bloody-minded people who will be determined to go their own way and could be one of the many ending up in hospital and will have every right to blame the government this time!
